Roma Blog - Day 1 (12/23/2007) Buon Giorno!

We made it! We went to Sunday Mass at St. Peter's Basilica at the Holy Spirit altar. What a breathtaking setting for Mass. Although it was in Italian, it was easy to follow along. Not sure we got much out of the homily though! Had a great meal and walked a bit around the St. Peter's area before heading back to our apartment.

Now that's a holy water font! Everything in St. Peter's is huge. We didn't have much time to look around as they really wanted everyone to leave after Mass as they had a lot to do for Midnight Mass preparations. We'll tour the whole Basilica later in the week.

Here's the view from our rooftop solarium! We are one street over from the Vatican wall.

These little "Smart Cars" are all over the place, and I heard that they are heading to the States any day now! A recent newspaper report indicated that they have over 30,000 orders already for these cars in the U.S.

Ciao for now from Roma! We need to leave to pick up our tickets for Midnight Mass.
